The ELI offers a variety of programs to help students prepare to be successful in undergraduate or graduate programs at a top American university.

  • Our undergraduate pathway program, Academic Transitions (AT), is for students who are conditionally admitted to a bachelor’s degree program at the University of Delaware.
  • Our Conditional Admissions Program (CAP) program helps students to be accepted to a master’s or Ph.D. program at the University of Delaware or one of our partner universities.

When you receive conditional admission, you start your experience at the University of Delaware English Language Institute (UD ELI). No TOEFL or IELTS score is required!

In both AT and CAP, students participate in the Cohort program. A “cohort” is a small group of students — in this case, usually 6-10 students — who are placed in a group together. In the Cohort program, students build the academic, social, leadership and cultural skills necessary to be successful at an American university.
