In November 2015, the ELI was honored with a visit from a delegation of Chinese high school counselors and administrators, organized by our agency partner, Can-Achieve International Education Consultants.

The purpose of this trip was to provide the delegates with first-hand knowledge of the University of Delaware and the ELI, enabling them to learn more about the University’s programs and support services for international students. This knowledge will enhance the delegates’ ability to advise their students about the study options and campus life at our university.

During their visit, the members of the delegation participated in a variety of activities, including:

  • Meeting members of the Office of Admissions;
  • Learning more about the campus via a guided tour;
  • Participating in English courses at the ELI;
  • Meeting members of the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS);
  • Attending presentations about UD’s programs and support services for international students;
  • Touring the ELI’s housing options for conditionally-admitted international students; and
  • Participating in cultural activities and visiting local tourist attractions.

Study Abroad CoverThe delegation also spent several days visiting the partner colleges and universities that participate in the Conditional Admissions Program (CAP), meeting their personnel and learning about their programs.

One member of the delegation was a journalist. Yang Wang represented “Study Abroad” magazine, the only international education magazine that is authorized by the Chinese government. She participated in all of the activities that were offered to the delegation, often asking questions and demonstrating her interest in learning more about the opportunities available to Chinese students.

We are happy to announce that Wang’s article was published this week in “Study Abroad.” She has graciously provided us with a copy of the article to share with the ELI Community. Download the article in PDF format.

Please note that the article is partly in Chinese and partly in English. The English section is in the latter half of the article.
