The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) seeks a clean energy intern to work in its Boston office starting in the Fall of 2014. MAPC is the regional planning agency serving the people who live and work in Metropolitan Boston. The energy intern will have research responsibilities and will work directly with the Energy Division team to develop and implement MAPC’s energy projects. The intern will provide direct support to MAPC’s regional energy projects, as well as municipal energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. This work will include researching and drafting memoranda on energy technologies and MAPC energy projects, researching utility programs, organizing stakeholder meetings, and researching innovative opportunities for community energy programs in the Greater Boston region.

The energy intern must have strong research and writing skills. Experience with energy data analysis and graphic design is a plus. Familiarity with LED technology, SRECs, Anaerobic Digestion, MassSave, Requests for Proposals, and MGL Chapter 25A is preferred. The ideal candidate will be a graduate student studying urban planning, engineering, public policy, architecture, business, or another related field.

The intern must be willing to commit 20 hours per week and must be enrolled as a student at the time of the internship. This is a paid position.
