BIOGRAPHY

Sydney Dyck is a Sociology PhD student in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. She is also an affiliate of the Disaster Research Center. Sydney’s research centers around the impact of disasters on mental health, particularly among Indigenous populations in North America. She is also very interested in trauma-informed approaches and community-based knowledge as a manner of coping and long-term recovery. Sydney completed her master’s degree in Sociology in 2023 with her qualitative thesis titled The Lumbee Tribe & Narratives of Intergenerational Coping with Hazards.
