INTERNSHIP – Equality Delaware is seeking student interns of any major for an off-campus spring semester internship near UD. The primary focus of the internship will be working on the 2013 campaign to win marriage equality in Delaware. Equality Delaware is the leading organization working to ensure and promote dignity, safety, and equality for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Delawareans. Interns will assist field staff with public education, community outreach, and fundraising, and they will receive training in political communication basics. The internship is unpaid, but University of Delaware credit (one credit per 40 hours over the semester) can be arranged for students of any major. Political Science/IR majors accepted as interns should register for POSC 464 with Dr. Philip Edward Jones (pejones at udel.edu ) before the 2/18 drop-add deadline. Everyone else will be registered for 1-6 credits in either UNIV 368 or UNIV 468 depending on class status and we will take care of that registration for you. Upon completion of the internship, all interns will receive formal recognition and certification of their work to verify their work experience. Interns will get on-the-job training and work experience in a variety of campaign skills. Hours can be somewhat flexible, but 9-10 hours a week is typical for a 3 credit internship. Minimum is about 3 hours a week for 1 credit. Internship activities will primarily take place at our Newark satellite office and around campus. Interested applicants should email resumes and cover letters to Bill Humphrey at Equality Delaware (williamh at udel.edu, 302-409-0755 ) no later than 5 PM on Monday 2/11 for consideration. Interviews of applicants will be held on campus on the afternoon of Tuesday 2/12, unless you have turned in your application early allowing us to give you an early interview.
