Learn more about how an emergency loan can assist farmers with disaster recovery.

USDA has designated all Delaware counties as primary natural disaster areas due to drought and excessive heat during the 2024 growing season.  This disaster designation makes farm operators in Delaware, as well as contiguous Maryland counties, eligible to be considered for FSA emergency loans.  Emergency loans help producers recover from disasters.  Loan funds can be used to pay all or part of production costs associated with the disaster and refinance certain debts.  Production losses can be termed out at 3.75% for up to 7 years.  FSA considers each emergency loan application on its own merits, taking into account the extent of production losses on the farm and the security and repayment ability of the operator.
