The Goal
Leverage AI to provide faster time-to-solutions for the most critical challenges
The Ask
UD’s AI Center of Excellence is actively seeking challenge contributors from financial institutions, fintech companies, and regulators who want to:
- Accelerate time-to-solution by enhancing existing financial models with AI-driven optimization and automation.
- Leverage real-world or synthetic datasets (e.g., transaction histories, credit profiles, market data) to prototype innovative fintech solutions.
- Develop real-time predictions and interactive dashboards to visualize customer behaviors, risk patterns, and portfolio performance.
- Detect emerging threats and market anomalies while improving auditability, transparency, and data-driven decision-making at scale.
The Outcomes
Potential deliverables from the end of the hackathon include but are not limited to:
- Working prototypes of scalable, AI-powered analytical models with faster time-to-solution capabilities.
- Source code and documentation for data processing pipelines and model workflows, enabling further development or integration.
- Interactive dashboards visualizing customer behavior, market trends, and real-time financial insights.
- High-impact pitch presentations demonstrating technical innovation, business value, and opportunities for deeper industry-academic collaboration.

LOW-CODE AI: MAKING AI ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE
PRESENTER BIO:
Noah Roberts is an Education Application Engineer for MathWorks, supporting universities and educators on the east coast with implementing MATLAB and Simulink into their research and curriculum. His background is in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and before MathWorks he worked as an R&D Test Engineer at a product design company. Noah has been with MathWorks for 3 years and started out as a member of the Engineering Development Group (EDG).
PRESENTATION ABSTRACT
Low-Code AI: Making AI Accessible to Everyone
Learn how you can apply AI in your field without extensive knowledge in programming. This hands-on session includes a quick recap on the fundamentals of AI and three exercises where you will learn how to classify human activities using MATLAB® interactive tools and apps:
- Accessing and preprocessing data acquired from a mobile device
- Applying clustering to the unlabeled data using the Cluster Data Live Editor Task
- Classifying the labeled data using two apps: Classification Learner app and the Deep Network Designer app
At the end of the presentation, you will be able to design and train different machine learning and deep learning models without extensive programming knowledge. You will also learn how to automatically generate code from the interactive workflow. This will not only help you to reuse the models without manually going through all the steps but also to learn programming or advance your coding skills.
To follow along with this presentation, you will need a MathWorks® account (create MathWorks account).
