12th Annual “UDon’t Need It?” Student Move Out,

Reuse and Recycle Program

Tuesday, May 22, 2018 – Friday, June 7, 2018

The UDNI Student Move Out Project is a cooperative effort between the University of Delaware and the City of Newark. The goals of the UDNI project are to:

  1. reduce local landfill waste and
  2. redirect reusable items to the local community

WHO should participate?

All UD students (Must bring UD Student ID) preparing to depart from Newark who:

  • Have reusable items they can’t take with them.
  • Care about the environment and want to reduce landfill waste.
  • Want to encourage the opportunity to redirect reusable items to the local community.

All City of Newark landlords (Must show proof of City of Newark Rental Property Ownership) who:

  • Have reusable items their tenants could not take with them.
  • Care about the environment and want to reduce landfill waste.
  • Want to encourage the opportunity to redirect reusable items to the local community.

WHAT can I drop off?

You can drop off pretty much anything you don’t want (or your former tenants did not want) to move back home. We accept the following items IN GOOD AND REUSABLE CONDITION:

  • FURNITURE
    • Sofas and loveseats
    • Living room chairs/ottomans
    • Dining tables
    • Dining chairs and stools
    • Coffee tables and end tables
    • Bookcases
    • Storage units/cabinets/shelving units
    • Entertainment centers
    • Desks
    • Futons and bed frames
    • Dressers
    • Mattresses/boxsprings
  • HOUSEHOLD GOODS
    • Lamps
    • Carpets and rugs
    • Home décor items
    • Housewares – including dishes, pots and pans, and utensils
    • Bedding and linens
    • Fans and air conditioners
    • Small appliances
    • Large appliances
    • Outdoor/Patio/Lawn & garden items
  • ELECTRONICS
    • Televisions
    • Stereo systems
    • Computers and components
  • MISCELLANEOUS
    • Tools
    • Toys and games
    • Bicycles
    • Sports and exercise equipment
    • Books
    • School and craft supplies
    • Clothing
    • Unopened nonperishable foods

WHY should I participate?

The UDNI project redirects reusable items to the local community and helps to keep approximately 100 tons of materials (annually) out of local landfills.

HOW do I participate?

Simply bring your stuff and your UD ID (students) or proof that you are a landlord (lease agreement, city license, etc.) to the UDon’t Need It site. Others will be required to pay $10 per regular pick–up truck or carload of refuse.

If you need help unloading your stuff, there will be volunteers on site.
