Climate Change Innovation Course Development Grants Application

The Climate Change Hub (CCH) is pleased to announce three types of curricular enhancement funding – Course Development Grants for New and Revised Climate Change related courses and Mini-Grants for Climate Change Course Enhancements. All UD faculty are eligible to apply. A letter of support from the applicant’s Department Chair is required at the time of submission. Proposals will be reviewed by a panel with the purpose of developing a well-rounded selection of courses and course enhancements.

Course Development Grants for New and Revised Climate Change related courses:

Course development grants provide $2500 or $5000 to revise or create Climate Change related courses. The Climate Change Hub continues to document university-wide climate change courses (see our Education page) and is identifying gaps for areas of growth and additional offerings with the goal of developing a cluster of course offerings for undergraduate and graduate students with and ultimately proposing a graduate and undergraduate Climate Essentials Certificate. Each cluster is designed to give students a broad education on climate change impacts on people and the environment through the lens of social science, physical science, climate policy, and solutions leadership and design. If students take the entire suite of courses, they will be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of climate change and the social impacts and current policies. Students will also explore creative solutions and ways to lead in times of great change.

Mini-Grants for Climate Change Course Enhancements:

Mini-grants provide up to $500 to support the design and integration of climate change learning activities into an existing undergraduate course with at least ten enrolled students. The design of climate change related classroom activities represents an important integration of timely topics into classroom education. We expect that faculty who chose to apply for course enhancement grants will share their ideas with colleagues through the Climate Change Hub educational resource archive.

The CCH will invite select proposals to proceed and may ask the applicant to respond to additional questions before final award notifications are shared by April 15, 2022. Please use this form to apply. In the next section you will select which opportunity you are applying for followed by more detailed information about your proposal.
