Eligibility
- Faculty with the credential of assistant professor (or equivalent) and above affiliated with US universities and academic institutes who wish to conduct research with Chinese researchers in China.
- Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens.
Duration
- 2 weeks to 6 months
Funding
- Lodging and living stipend: 10,000 RMB (1,500USD) per month (The average monthly Chinese household income is 6,000 RMB)
- Round-trip international airfare (economy class)
- Life insurance during the visit term in China

- Application accepted all year round. Note that there will be a 3-months reviewing period upon receipt of the application. Plan accordingly.
Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship
Eligibility
- PhD candidates currently enrolled in program from a wide range of disciplines and back-ground in the Arts, Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences who wish to study, conduct research, or write doctoral dissertations in China.
- HSK test score level 3 or above (For beginners, CI provides one -year HSK course to reach the required language proficiency)
- Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens
Duration
- 6 months to 2 years
Funding
- Lodging and living stipend: 80,000 RMB per year (The average monthly Chinese household income is 6,000 RMB)
- Research fund: 20,000 RMB per year
- Round-trip international airfare
- Tuition
- Other support provided by the host Chinese university
- Expenses for applicant’s home university supervisor’s visit or research in China
- Life and medical insurances in China
- Group activities and cultural experience
Deadline
- 02/15/2017 (at 23:59 Beijing Time, for program to start in fall 2017)

- Students holding master’s degrees who wish to pursue their Ph.D. degree in China
- HSK test score level 5 is required (Check with CI for HSK training).
- Non-Chinese citizen
- Applicants who are currently participating in Chinese Government Scholarship are not eligible.
