UDCI Celebrates the Chinese New Year of the Golden Pig

The Confucius Institute at the University of Delaware (UDCI) and the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) presented a spectacular Chinese New Year Gala to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Pig at Mitchell Hall on the evening of Sunday, February 24th. 

Among the distinguished guests were Honorable US Senator Chris Coons, UD President Assanis and Mrs. Assanis, New Castle County Executive Matthew S. Meyer, Dean Atekwana, Deputy Dean of Learner College of Business Rick Andrews, Governor John Carney’s Communication Liaison Larry Morris, Assistant Vice President Kristian Graves, and Director of the Institute for Global Studies Trevor Nelson.

The Gala attracted a wonderful audience of more than 500 people from across the campus and beyond. It received many warm congratulations and was highly praised as another successful cross-cultural event that has helped foster the understanding of Chinese culture and strengthen the friendship between the great peoples of the two great countries, America and China.

                                   

                                   

The day after the gala, US Senator Coons posted a congratulation message on his Facebook page, thanking UD for a wonderful cultural program and expressing his best wishes for the Chinese New Year.
