Funded by the US State Department and American Councils, the Confucius Institute at the University of Delaware (UDCI) is implementing the 2016 National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y)’s Summer Institute of Chinese Language and Culture program again this year! Thirty talented American high school students from sixteen states in the nation are recruited from a very competitive national selection process for this prestigious NSLIY Scholarship program. Participants from Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin will join the UDCI’s Director Dr. Jianguo Chen, director of the UD-NSLIY program as welll, and other chaperons at the Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) in Hilton Newark Airport from June 29 to 30. The group will depart for China on July 1st and spend the next six weeks in Xiamen, its surrounding areas as well as Shanghai and Beijing for a full immersion experience in Chinese language and culture in July and August.
