Principle Investigator

Dr. Megan Wenner, PhD 

Megan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology at the University of Delaware. She received her PhD from the University of Delaware and completed postdoctoral training at The John B. Pierce Laboratory. Her research focuses on women’s health and cardiovascular function. Her most recent work examines the impact of ovarian hormones on vascular signaling mechanisms in women throughout the lifespan, with a particular focus on Endothelin-1 (ET-1). She also investigates mechanisms regulating blood pressure in women, and through collaborations with Dr. William Farquhar examines the effects of salt on blood pressure control.

 

 

Doctoral Students

Katie Haigh, MSN, APRN, CNP

Katie completed her both Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Delaware.  She has extensive clinical experience in the field of women’s health, working in the fields of reproductive endocrinology and gynecology for over a decade.  Her current interests include researching how varying states of estrogen production can impact a woman’s overall health, and how impaired ovarian reserve will impact the health of young women now and as they age.  In addition to caring for her patients and focusing on research, Katie loves spending time with her husband and three children.

 

Sangeetha Nathaniel, MBBS

Sangeetha received a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute. She gained clinical experience in bothIndia and England in general medicine. She has an interest in women’s cardiovascular health, specifically postmenopausal women in relation to vascular function and hypertension. She also enjoys spending time with her family and loves to play the piano.

 

Andrew Kuczmarski,  BS

Andrew received a degree with distinction from the University of Delaware, majoring in exercise science with minors in biology and biochemistry. He has previous research experience working for both the National Institutes on Aging and the Department for Defense. He is currently interested in translational research and women’s health.  During his undergraduate he also pursued photography and has worked as a wedding photographer.
