Amanda Owen Van Horne, PhD, CCC-SLP

Principal Investigator

Amanda discovered Speech Pathology while attending the Texas Academy of Mathematics at the University of North Texas. Intrigued by a field that combined the study of language with a helping profession, she finished her Bachelor’s and  Master’s Degrees at the University of Texas at Dallas.  Initially Amanda wanted to treat individuals with bilingual aphasia, but ultimately became interested in children with language impairment. Amanda attended Purdue University, where she studied with Larry Leonard.  She completed her Clinical Fellowship within the Purdue Clinic. After 12 years at the University of Iowa, Amanda is now an associate professor at the University of Delaware and director of the TELL lab.  Amanda is interested in using treatment research to better understand how language learning works in children at-risk of language learning difficulties for a variety of reasons.
