Center for Counseling & Student Development

Graduate Student Government

The Mental Health Committee (MHC) of the Graduate Student Government will be hosting several “mental well-being” Zoom sessions for graduate students in Fall 2020. These sessions are designed by and for graduate students. The pandemic has increased mental and emotional stressors, which have added to the stress we feel already as graduate students. In this light, we want to create a “safer space” where we can come together and create community to support each other.

This event is open to everyone. We know that while we cannot make this a totally safe space, we can make this a “safer” space and a brave space. If you have any questions or concerns, or simply need someone to reach out to, do not hesitate to contact Maxwell Hope, co-chair of the MHC at maxhope@udel.edu.

  • November 13 @ 3pm
The topic of the third event will be on a heavier topic – but we intend to come out of it with tools and support to tackle it. The topic will be “Oppression & Discrimination at UD (and its effects on mental well-being)”, focused on sharing our lived experiences, listening to others’ experiences, and coming up with ways to support each other as compassionate colleagues. We will also discuss what resources do work (and which are less helpful) when it comes to addressing these issues. This will take place on November 13th at 3pm via Zoom.

Student Wellness & Health Promotion

Blue Hen Wellbeing Community

Looking to connect with other students? Want to meet new people that share similar interests or make new and interesting friends?

Join the students of the Blue Hen Wellbeing Community in various Zoom breakout rooms via our twice monthly virtual socials to discuss wellness related topics, life as a college students, favorite books or movies, or even play a virtual game. Socials are 1st Tuesdays at 8:00 PM and 3rd Tuesdays at 8:00 AM.

Using the Canvas LMS platform, SWHP is creating a free, non-credit, self-paced and self-directed online “course” for students to learn about wellness topics that interest them, while connecting with their peers. By using the Canvas platform, which students are already familiar with, SWHP will be able to create a virtual community space for students to engage with like-minded peers around topics and learning related to wellness. Students will be able to explore different learning modules that will feature activities for independent self-study, as well as activities that involve peer-to-peer connection to support student wellbeing through a mix of synchronous and asynchronous formats. New modules will be added monthly.
