Purpose: To learn about the effects of high and low fructose on cardiovascular health and cognitive function
Background: Fructose is a major source of added sugar in the human diet. An unhealthy diet can lead to hypertension and poor cardiovascular health outcomes.
About the Study: This 4-week intervention study is looking for participants who are 65-80 years old and have not been diagnosed with hypertension, diabetes, or heart disease. Each participant will be assigned to three diets – one week of low fructose, one week of high fructose, and two weeks of a control diet in random order. All food will be provided to the participants throughout the course of the study. Weekly anthropometrics, fasting blood draw, urine collection, and blood pressure responses will be assessed. Participants will be compensated for their time. We are currently recruiting participants for this exciting study!
