Dr. Fromen recently attended a Translational Workshop – “Physics to Pharma: Using Surfactant Driven Flows to Improve Inhaled Therapies”, hosted at Carnegie Melon University by Drs. Garoff, Corcoran, Przybycien, and Tilton. The goal of the workshop was to examine surfactant enhanced transport in the lung through a collaborative effort between clinically focused researchers and engineering/science focused researchers. The twelve expert participants discussed physical, theoretical, biological, and clinical issues surrounding transport of inhaled aerosol therapeutics and the potential of surfactant delivery to improve the distribution of the drug through post-deposition spreading. Dr. Fromen really enjoyed meeting these exceptional scientists and was inspired by the many stimulating discussions throughout the weekend!
