Congratulations to Kimberly Wodzanowski, CBI Trainee, and Samantha Cassel on the publication of their new review article in Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters titled: “Tools for probing host-bacteria interactions in the gut microenvironment: from molecular to cellular levels.”

Kimmie is working in the Catherine Grimes and April Kloxin labs to develop a three-dimensional bacteria-macrophage co-culture hydrogel system to use as an invasion assay. This system is utilized to study bacterial peptidoglycan fragments generated during an immune response in order to gain insights into how human bodies respond to bacteria in natural and diseased states like Crohn’s disease.
