Mentor Resources

Mentor Training

To create a rich mentoring environment, CBB T32 mentors are required to complete Mentoring Training. In-person mentor training at UD will be held periodically and announced through the appropriate channels.  Participation in Culturally-Aware Mentoring (CAM) training events in particular is encouraged.

Alternatively, Mentors may choose to complete training online through the University of Minnesota’s Mentoring Training (look for “Optimizing the Practice of Mentoring 101”). Mentors can set up a user account by using the Mentoring Module Registration Guide.

Recent mentor training events may also be accepted.  Reach out to Shawn Polson (polson@udel.edu) to inquire.

Student Nomination Form

CBCB reviews nominations annually near the beginning of the summer, but nominations can be submitted at any time. Students must be nominated by their faculty/research advisor. Faculty advisors can nominate a student using the T32 Nomination Form.  Student eligibility is listed on the Apply page.

Application Materials

Faculty advisors will need to become a CBB T32 Mentor for their student to be awarded as a T32 Trainee. Faculty are invited to apply as a CBB T32 Mentor by submitting an NIH Biosketch and Other Support form to Shawn Polson (polson@udel.edu).

Faculty must also be affiliated with the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (CBCB), Data Science Institute (DSI), or both. Individuals who wish to be considered for Affiliated Faculty or Adjunct Faculty membership are encouraged to email bioinformatics@udel.edu for CBCB affiliation and DSI-Info@udel.edu for DSI affiliation.
