PREDOCTORAL TRAINING PROGRAM IN COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY, BIOINFORMATICS AND BIOMEDICAL DATA SCIENCE (CBB)
The Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at University of Delaware is home to a NIGMS T32 Predoctoral Training Grant in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, and Biomedical Data Science. The CBB T32 training program for PhD in Bioinformatics Data Science (BDS) aims to provide rich and innovative training activities encompassing course curriculum, and internships, workshops and seminars to facilitate inclusive, experiential learning in an interdisciplinary team science environment for workforce development in computational biology, bioinformatics, and biomedical data science.
Six trainees are recruited annually from eligible second year PhD students for one-year T32 funding support, including a competitive stipend and full tuition coverage. The CBB T32 training program is designed with three key attributes—3-i’s (innovative, inclusive, interdisciplinary), aiming to provide innovative training activities to facilitate inclusive learning in an interdisciplinary team science environment.
The collaborative nature of the coursework and department seminars have helped to broaden my understanding and perspective of the field of bioinformatics.
