Extension scientists review soil moisture sensors with area farmers

James Adkins, associate scientist for Irrigation Engineering demonstrates the pros and cons of various soil moisture sensing equipment available to farmers. The 3-hour workshop is one of several held at the Carvel Research and Education Center in Georgetown. After the demonstration, Adkins and Cory Whaley, Sussex County agriculture Extension agent, discussed how to interpret the data collected by the various instruments.
