Crafting Corner

Here is an easy project to do with your clubs in honor of St. Patty’s Day.  For your Clover Bud, this could be submitted to the Delaware State Fair as a craft exhibit.  For the younger youth members, this could be submitted as a paper craft exhibit.  Let your crafters use their imaginations and come up with their own ideas.

You can find the directions on the Youtube Paper Strip Shamrocks by Sugar Bee Crafts.  She does an excellent job explaining the steps while demonstrating the 3-leaf clover.  However, as my members were doing their project, they wanted to do the 4-leaf clover.  For the children too young for hot glue, use tacky craft glue.  (Remember to leave your glue bottle laying down when not using it to make dispensing the glue faster.)  I found slightly bending the ends helped to give a larger surface for gluing and more stability.  The children will need to hold the pieces together for a few seconds and let the entire piece sit undisturbed while it dries thoroughly.

While it is drying, play a St. Patty’s Day game or make a Healthy Shamrock Shake.  Then record these activities on your 4th H for Health tracking sheet.  May the luck of the Irish by with you.
