As you know, much of coastal Texas has been devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Please consider raising funds or spearheading other relief efforts for your fellow 4-Hers in the affected areas. If your club needs assistance with coordinating with Texas 4-H, please contact our office at 302-831-8965 and we will assist you any way we can.


Leadership Opportunity for College Students

Applications are being accepted for the roundtable facilitator roles for the 2018 National 4-H Conference which will be held in Washington, D.C. April 7-12, 2018.  Application documents can be downloaded at!leadership-facilitators.

National 4‑H Conference is the pinnacle experience in 4‑H Citizenship, providing the opportunity for young people to connect, learn, engage, lead and impact their communities, their nation and their world. Roundtable facilitators lead groups of 4-H teens through the development and facilitation of a briefing on an issue important to our nation.   The facilitators play an important role in the success of this civic engagement experience.  The facilitators also gain a tremendous amount of leadership experience, networking connections, and facilitation skills by serving in this role.   All college students with a desire to participate in this experience are encouraged to apply.

Agri-Science & Healthy Living Summits


Applications are now being accepted for consideration to attend the National Youth Agri-Science Summit on February 2-5, 2017, and the National Youth Healthy Living Summit on February 17-20, 2017.  The deadline for submission is Wednesday, December 14, 2016.

Calling all Makers to the National Youth Maker Summit!


Get creative, get innovative at the  National Youth Maker Summit, November 10-13, 2016.

The Delaware 4-H Program will support two (2) Delaware 4-H youth and one (1) volunteer leader/staff chaperone to attend the National Youth Maker Summit in Washington, DC. The National Youth Maker Summit caters to high school aged students who are curious and industrious. To be a Maker is to build, experiment and tinker with a variety of mediums. Participants will spend three days learning about engineering, invention and creativity through innovative workshops. They will have the opportunity to make what they can with a variety of materials from a range of fields, utilizing their resourcefulness and creativity, and learn how they can take back and share this information with other youth in Delaware. This Summit is open to any high school student in grades 9-12 as of September 2016.

Delaware 4-H members must complete an application to be considered to attend this conference.

Colleen Murray named “STEM Innovator of the Year”

Congratulations to New Castle County 4-Her, Colleen Murray, for being named 2015 STEM Youth Innovator of the Year by National 4-H Council. Colleen received this prestigious award for her efforts within the area of STEM and her commitment to educating local youth about the importance of STEM education. In addition to a $500 scholarship, Colleen was also awarded an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to assist with the 4-H National Youth Science DayA special thank you to the sponsors of this award: National 4-H Council and HughesNet.

National 4-H Dairy Conference

4-H‘er Spring Vasey of the Country Time 4-H Club in Kent County is currently attending the National 4-H Dairy Conference on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison, Wisconsin. While there, Spring is participating in dairy science workshops and field trips along with approximately 200 other dairy project members from across the United States and Canada. Exploration of dairy related careers, dairy production, marketing, genetics and production and processing of dairy products are a few of the subjects they will be exposed to. In addition, she will also have the opportunity to spend a day at the World Dairy Expo. Spring is being chaperoned by 4-H volunteer Jody Vasey of Kent County. Special thanks to the Delaware 4-H Foundation for funding this leadership and dairy science experience for our 4-H members! If you are interested in attending National 4-H Dairy Conference next year and have three years of dairy project experience, applications will be due May 1, 2016.
