NCC 4-H Quarter Auction

What is a Quarter Auction?
A quarter auction is part raffle, part auction, part fundraiser and ALL fun! It works a bit like bingo. When you arrive, you’ll receive a numbered paddle with a corresponding numbered ball that’s put into the drawing basket. Auction items will be on display from a variety of donors and vendors with a bid price of 1,2,3, or 4 quarters.
Once the auction begins, a 4-H member will display the item that’s currently up for bid and will announce whether it’s a “1, 2, 3 or 4 quarter” bid. If you’re interested in bidding, you will put designated number of quarters in a bowl and raise your paddle. A 4-Her will walk from table to table with a bucket to collect bids.
The announcer will then draw a number to find a winner. If they draw your number and you bid on the item, hooray! You just won an awesome item at a great price! If they draw your number and you did NOT bid, just call out “no bid!” and they’ll continue to draw numbers until a winner is declared.
Paddles are $20.00 in advance and includes paddle and roll of quarters to get the bidding started. On the day of the event, paddles will be $25.00 at the door with a roll of quarters. Additional paddles can be purchased for $5.00.
All In Paddles are $50.00. This means you automatically bid on every item without putting any quarters in.

NCC 4-H Exchange Group Fundraisers
We to invite you to support this year’s NCC 4-H Exchange Group who are traveling to Rice County, Minnesota in June. We are running a Super Bowl squares grid for this weekend’s game and squares are available for $10 each. Payouts are $100 for each of the first 3 quarters and $200 if your square matches the final score.

Exchange Group Fundraiser
Eat dinner out at Grotto’s in Middletown on Wednesday, January 16 from 4 to 9 pm and help support the NCC Exchange Group!
A paper voucher must be presented in order to receive credit. Showing on a phone or tablet cannot be accepted.
Organization members and guests will be seated throughout the restaurant. Because these events take place over a five hour period, Grotto’s is unable to hold designated areas.

The NCC Exchange group will be holding several upcoming fundraising events- one at Grotto’s in Middletown on February 8 and a Spaghetti Dinner at the Immanuel UMC Townsend on March 24 from 5-7 pm.

The New Castle County 4-H Exchange group is raising money to host 4-H youth from Montana this coming summer by selling Yankee Candles. Any little bit helps! All sales will be in before Thanksgiving. 2017 Delaware State Fair News
Coupon Books Now Available!!
The New Castle County 4-H Exchange Group is now selling the first ever “hot off the press” Delaware State Fair Coupon Book!
There are over $430 worth of coupons that can be used at vendors throughout the fair grounds during the 10 day fair July 20-29, 2017 in Harrington.
Included are: $2 off gate admission, BOGO offers from UDairy and Haas Scrapple Sandwiches and more great savings in the 95 page book!
The books will be on sale until June 30 at the cost of $10 each. They will be available at the 4-H table at Ag Day
or can be purchased from the New Castle 4-H office by calling 302-831-8965 or emailing Kaitlin Klair at kklair@udel.edu.
The 4-H Exchange Group is raising funds to travel to Big Fork, Montana this summer to stay with 4-H families. Please help them achieve their goal by spreading the word about these coupon books!
2017 Delaware State Fair – July 20-29
The Delaware State Fair is just around the corner and excitement is building as 4-H members get ready to exhibit and showcase their 4-H project work. The 4-H Department Handbook is now available on the Delaware State Fair website and you can begin to enter entries online with the Delaware State Fair on April 1, 2017 and must complete all exhibit entries by the June 1, 2017 deadline.
STATE FAIR HELPERS AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
The fair is not possible without a cadre of talented 4-Hers and adult volunteers that make it all happen. Consider volunteering to help set-up the building, check-in exhibits, and assist judges. Good help is always needed, especially adult volunteers! We ask that all helpers be age 8 or older. 2017 Fair Helpers Form– Check out what we need help with, fill out the Fair Helper or Host/Hostess form and return to the New Castle 4-H Office by June 9!

NCC Exchange hosts Spaghetti Dinner – May 14
The New Castle County 4-H Exchange Group is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction on Saturday, May 14, from 5-7pm. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. The dinner will be held in Odessa at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
