Delaware 4-H Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Please join the Delaware 4-H Family and many others on Saturday October 1, 2016, for the induction of the third class of laureates into the Delaware 4-H Hall of Fame. This event will be held at the Modern Maturity Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 and will include dinner, entertainment, and a visual history of Delaware 4-H. This event is sponsored by the Delaware 4-H Foundation to honor people who were active and influential in Delaware 4-H. The legacy that these laureates have left, and in some cases continue to leave, is what makes Delaware 4-H a premier positive youth development program. On this evening, 21 of the pillars of Delaware 4-H will be honored. Please come out and honor their achievements.  Nominations for this important honor came in from across the state.

Opportunity for Adult Volunteers with Teaching Experience

Kelly Educational Staffing is currently hiring for Substitute Teachers and Substitute Paraprofessionals. KES and 4-H would be a beneficial partnership for one another. 4-H volunteers will gain awareness of the need for passionate educators in the classrooms and KES could spread the word in regards to 4-H opportunities as well!

If you have any of your volunteers, family, friends, or colleagues looking to gain hands-on experience within the New Castle County school districts, have them contact us at or give us a call at 302-323-4748. February Grab n’ Go

Test your Olympic knowledge with this fun activity. Make it your own Olympic challenge by having a race to the right answer and award homemade medals to the winners! Feel you don’t know enough about the Olympics to win? That’s ok, the Jamaicans didn’t know much about bobsledding either, but they have had 6 teams compete since 1988. -Quite a feat for a country where it doesn’t snow! Guess they were “Up for the Challenge”, too!

Stewards of Children Training for Delaware 4-H

Dear Delaware 4-H Leaders,

As the State 4-H Volunteer Coordinator, it is my pleasure to provide training opportunities for you as adult leaders to enhance the experience 4-H children have in our unique program.  Starting today, the Stewards of Children training that has been conducted in all three of our counties over these last few months will be available online for our Delaware 4-H leaders.  All of us on the 4-H staff have gone through the training, as have many of our 4-H leaders, and while it is by no means mandatory, we feel it important to offer this opportunity to as many members of the 4-H family as possible.

As adults, we are responsible for the safety of our children. It’s important to teach children how to recognize and avoid risky situations, but it’s unrealistic to think that a child can fend off sexual advances by an adult. Fortunately, we can protect them – by insisting on prevention policies in our youth serving organizations, by recognizing signs of sexual abuse, and by confronting and stopping abuse if it occurs.

What is Stewards of Children?

  • A program that addresses child sexual abuse in the context of today’s issues.
  • A program that features a combination of survivor stories, expert advice, and practical guidance.
  • A program that shows you how a simple, 5-step approach can protect the children you love from sexual abuse.

What will I learn from taking Stewards of Children?

  • You’ll learn The 5 Steps to Protecting our Children TM, and how they can be applied to keep kids safe.
  • You’ll learn how a few simple actions can have far-reaching positive effects.
  • You’ll leave with the understanding that child sexual abuse can be prevented, it can be stopped, and it can be overcome.

Please review the steps below in order to register online.  This online portal was created specifically for Delaware 4-H and is free until January 1st.   We would ask that you please register and get started on the training prior to January 1st in order to have your $10 registration fee waived.  This training does not have to be completed in one seating and can be stopped and saved as needed en route to completion.

National Youth Summit on Healthy Living
February 12-15, 2016

National 4-H Council has allotted monies to send 3 Delaware 4-H and Healthy Living Ambassadors to the National Youth Summit on Healthy Living. At the National Youth Summit on Healthy Living, high school students develop the knowledge and skills to address today’s issues such as nutrition education, physical fitness, wellness, and emotional well-being. National 4-H Council and the National 4-H Conference Center have partnered with professionals in Family Consumer Science and Healthy Living to host the National Youth Summit on Healthy Living. Students are trained to create action plans to implement in their communities and teach other youth about what they have learned. The structure of the summits maximizes the amount of hands-on learning experiences and translates that learning to direct outcomes.

This Summit is open to any high school student in grades 9-12 as of September 2015.

Delaware 4-H members and Healthy Living Ambassadors must fill out an application (see below) to be considered to attend the conference.
