Porter Gang has been a general interest club in New Castle County since 1965. It was founded by Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Moore, who lived on Porter Road in Bear-hence the name “Porter Gang”. Over the years, our club members have participated in livestock, foods, clothing, woodworking, fishing, and environmental projects, as well as camping trips to Mallard Lodge, County and State camps, State fair, demonstrations, Public Speaking, and many other project areas and activities.
Our members have collected canned goods, gloves and hats for the needy, packaged boxes for the Seaman in the Port of Wilmington at Christmas, and made pull toys for the SPCA. We like to give back and stay active in our community.
4-H is an excellent opportunity to make new friends and experience new adventures while having fun learning.
Our club welcomes new members from the ages of 5 – 18. We meet currently at the New Castle County 4-H office on the second Wednesday of each month. If interested please feel free to contact Kimberly Klair by emailing her at email@example.com.
Congratulations to all members who participate in the 2020 State 4-H Virtual Demonstration and Public Speaking contest! Results can be found below:
The 4th H for Heath tracker is due to Kaitlin Klair at firstname.lastname@example.org by August 31st.
In-person camps my have gotten sidelined this summer, but we still want to give everyone who loves 4-H camp a camp anyway!
We’re offering a slew of online camps with fun and learning opportunities just like regular camp. You can sign up for any camp in any county this summer, so give more than one a try!
If you have questions about Kent camps, please reach out to Caroline Del Vecchio.
If you have questions about Sussex camps, please reach out to Tammy Schirmer.
Hello 4-H Families and Friends,
I hope everyone is continuing to stay safe and home as much as you can, soon enough we will all be back together again. There has been a lot of information that has come out this past week that has been heart breaking, but I appreciate everyone’s understanding. We (4-H staff) are working fast to make changes to ensure that activities can be achieved throughout the rest of this 4-H year and start strong in the fall!
Congratulations to Brandon Tang, Tobi Tang and Ava Ferry for creating some awesome Food Art entries and placing in the top three for the State! A job well done also goes to Melanie Witte, Matthew Trunfio and Cole Simpson for creating short clips educating others about effects of drugs, tobacco and vaping. Great job everyone!
