Agents Letter – December

holidaysGreetings!

The holiday season has certainly put New Castle County 4-H in the giving spirit as clubs are involved in food drives, Adopt-a-Family, Operation Shoebox, Stockings for Soldiers and bell ringing with the Salvation Army Kettle. In addition, the tree is up in the county office for donations of hats, mittens, gloves and scarves. These are donated to the Adopt-a-Family Store where approved families can select the items they need. Thank you for serving others!

Congratulations to Jr. Leaders, Alyson Melson, Andrew Shaffer and Patrick Trunfio who have just returned from National 4-H Congress in Atlanta. We are so proud of them and want other 4-Hers to have this wonderful experience. Please ask them about their trip and let us know if you would like to work towards this achievement.

Also congratulations to the Public Speaking participants.  We look forward to seeing our champions compete at the Delaware State Fair in July.

In the new year, Favorite Foods will be fast approaching. We hope many 4-Hers will participate. We will be offering a comprehensive training on January 5 at 6:30 p.m.to help you prepare. Topics covered will include: selecting a recipe and theme, filling out the application, and what to expect at the contest. Please RSVP to Serena at serenac@udel.edu if you will attend.

4-H families can look forward to a full slate of fun and interesting Winter Workshops in February. Registration begins January 5.

Finally, a reminder that the inclement weather policy for NCC 4-H events is if the Christina School District closes for the day, has early dismissal or cancels after-school activities, then NCC 4-H events are cancelled.  Weekend 4-H events will be cancelled if the University of Delaware closes or cancels events.  The 4-H office will be closed from 12-23-2016 thru 1-2-2017.

Happy Holidays to all!
