Happy Holidays!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. As December is now here, we are winding down the 2022 year. We start to slow down in the 4-H community for a short time before we hit the ground running in the New Year. Please take a moment and reflect on and be proud of all you have done this past year within 4-H and your personal life. At some point, I’m sure you have had to overcome a fear, had a great victory (big or small), and enjoyed all the things the year has brought. We, Delaware 4-H, continue to push ahead making sure we can offer the best programming to our youth and volunteers in the coming year.

The University of Delaware offices (and therefore, the 4-H office) will be closed Friday, December 23rd – Monday, January 2nd.  We will re-open on Tuesday, January 3rd. We will be enjoying time with our families and hope that you are doing the same.

This past month we celebrated with the Public Speaking contest and sent two delegates to represent New Castle County to National 4-H Congress. In December we are looking forward to:

Holiday Fun Day

Jr. Council and Leaders Celebrations

National Conference Applications Due

Walking through the Holidays – walking challenge

Statewide Skating Party at State Fair Grounds

Things you can start preparing for in the New Year are the following:

Photography Contest, Foods Judging, Camp Counselor Meetings and –get your favorite recipes out- Favorite Foods! Favorite Foods and Photo entries are due to Serena by Monday, January 23rd.

We also love to hear all the great things you are doing with your club members. Club reporters- don’t forget to submit your club news to Serena by the 25th of each month to be included in the newsletter. We love seeing your pictures!

If anyone is interested in learning about or practicing for the Horse Bowl, please feel free to reach out to Ann Blackmore of the Heavenly Hooves club. All are welcome!

Be sure to look at our online newsletter, Friday emails and Delaware 4-H Facebook for updates. If you aren’t receiving the Friday emails or emails through 4-H Online, please let us know.

I hope you enjoy the Holidays with your family and loved ones! Remember to embrace the moment, relax and enjoy! See you in 2023!

Yours in 4-H,

Mrs. Kaitlin
