Hello 4-H Families and Friends,

We ended March with a bang hosting twenty four 4-H members from ten clubs to Younger Member Overnight at Ashland Nature Center.  Lots of education, fun and new 4-H friends! Thank you to our teen counselors and Mr. Dave Simpson, chaperone and pancake maker extraordinaire!

The Exchange Group recently held their fourth annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser. The funds raised will go towards traveling to stay with 4-H families in Minnesota in June. A big thank you to everyone who came and to the parent volunteers who helped with the execution. The last fundraisers will be a pretzel sale at Ag Day and a Buffalo Wild Wings in Middletown on April 29.

Delaware State Fair registration opens April 1.  The 2019 Delaware State Fair Newsletter  (to which a quick link has been added here for convenience) is full of information to help you navigate the many contests and activities at the 100th Annual Delaware State Fair. Yes, that is right the Centennial Edition!

Registration is due by April 5 for Junior Leader Weekend which is a lock-in at the 4-H-Office on April 13-14. More info in blog.

Fishing Club kicks off on April 13 with a meeting at the 4-H office from 10-12. Please let us know if you are interested in joining this group by contacting Serena at serenac@udel.edu or 302-831-8965.

Registration is due April 22 for Legislative Day on May 8. New Castle County 4-H Leaders Association will pay the registration fee for New Castle 4-Hers.

Do not miss Ag Day on April 27 at the University of Delaware College of Ag and Natural Resources from 10-4. Clubs are preparing educational displays- featuring recycling, origami and more. If your club is not participating, there are opportunities to volunteer at the 4-H table or assist the 4-H Leaders at their food booth. Funds raised support youth scholarships and programs throughout the year.  Let us know if you can lend a hand!

Plan to participate in the second demonstration contest on May 11, as there are many open categories. (Closed are: Individual: Entomology, Goats, Other Science Related, Recreational Sports, Arts and Crafts).

With spring comes a wealth of opportunities to learn and grow in 4-H! Please read the news blog. It contains quick info and registration links for the above events (and many others). Make sure to also check the calendars for activities and deadlines. The blog is here to help you stay informed and easily find the info and forms you need.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Yours in 4-H,

Betsy, Kaitlin, Serena and Maureen
