Current soybean research is focused on diseases caused by fungi and nematodes. In 2019, projects funded by the Delaware and Maryland Soybean Boards launched efforts to survey regional nematode populations and improve characterization of soilborne fungal pathogens including Diaporthe spp. and Macrophomina phaseolina. In addition to this research, the lab also conducts annual fungicide efficacy trials for management of foliar fungal diseases.
