My main specialties are GIScience including GIS modeling, Web GIS (i.e., Internet GIS), Computer Cartography, GIS spatial statistics, Geovisualization, Satellite Image Analysis, Geographic Object Based Image Analysis (GEOBIA), and LiDAR analysis (Geospatial Technologies). In particular, these scientific approaches not only are applied for protecting natural resources such as forests, wetlands and especially barrier islands in coastal areas, but also are used to sustainably manage tourism resources. My most recent research interests involves developing dynamic Web GIS applications, visualizing 3D Landscape of a flooding scenario in a barrier island on the east coast, and formulating ontology-driven geodatase design for balancing development and preservation in coastal regions.
