One in 40 children falls within the spectrum of disorders known as autism. These children can struggle with motor and communication skills. Anjana Bhat, an associate professor in the Biomechanics and Movement Science Interdisciplinary Graduate Program, has been working to develop creative and engaging therapies to help this population. Her work points to promising new dimensions in therapies, adding creative motion, music and robotics to the list of available therapies promoting social communication, cognition and motor skills in children with autism.
