Biography:

Dr. Mackenzie is an Assistant Professor of Health Behavior Science at University of Delaware. Dr. Mackenzie has worked in research, clinical, and leadership roles in the fields of mental health, rehabilitation and education since 2000.

Dr. Mackenzie is Program Director for UD’s International Consortium for Health & Wellness Coaching (ICHWC)-approved Graduate Certificate in Health Coaching. UD’s Health Coaching Program provides healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to facilitate positive behavior change to promote health and reduce chronic disease risk and experience.

Dr. Mackenzie also directs the Mind Body Behavioral Lab (MBBL) at UD. The MBBL focuses on how engagement in mind-body practices influence health behaviors and outcomes. The MBBL mission is to advance public health and medical care models to better include mind-body practices as standard to health promotion and chronic disease prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Dr. Mackenzie holds an MSc in Counseling Psychology and PhD in Health & Exercise Psychology from the University of Calgary, Canada. He completed his postdoctoral training in the Exercise Psychology Lab at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Mackenzie worked previously as a clinician and researcher offering solution-focused counseling and mindfulness-based and yoga programs in cancer care, addictions, and the community.
