Lab’s Current Research Interests

The BHAC Lab currently collaborates with investigators in the Departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition and Kinesiology and Applied Physiology at the University of Delaware. In addition, we are working with investigators at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, North Carolina State University, University of South Florida, and the National Institute on Aging.

Current Projects:

  • Currently recruiting for the Healthy Heart & Mind study examining race-related disparities in the relationship of reduced endothelial function to cognitive function and MRI structural brain changes among older adults (PI: Regina Sims Wright, Ph.D.)

  • Examining blood pressure, obesity, and psychosocial variables as predictors of cognitive function among middle age and older African Americans in the HealthPARC Study of Cognitive Aging (PIs: Regina Sims Wright, Ph.D., Denée T. Mwendwa, Ph.D.)

  • Examining health and psychosocial correlates of cognitive function among older African Americans in the Baltimore Study of Black Aging (PI: Keith E. Whitfield, Ph.D., Duke University)

  • Examining the association of diet quality and function in the Healthy Aging in Neighborhoods of Diversity across the Life Span (HANDLS) Study, including examining the role of C-reactive protein as a potential mediator and race and poverty status as potential moderators (PIs: Michele Evans, M.D., Alan Zonderman, Ph.D., National Institute on Aging)
