How to Distinguish Video Platforms Apart

Learn how to visually tell where a video file is being hosted. If your content has been migrated to My Media in Canvas and UD Capture Space or you’re using Zoom cloud recording links, you should now begin the process of updating the videos to use the videos from your My Media. To tell the difference between the two platforms, look for these identifying features.

Table of Contents:

Videos from UD Capture Archives (before 2018)

Old UD Capture Archives will have a logo in the upper right corner on top of the video before you play. After you play the video, the logo will appear if you mouse into the video window. Links to these videos will have udcapture.udel.edu in them.

Videos from My Media in Canvas and UD Capture Space (2018 and after)

Videos shared from My Media in Canvas and UD Capture Space will have a small, round, blue “UD” icon in the lower right. Links to these videos will have kaltura.com or capture.udel.edu in them.

Zoom Meeting Recordings Served from the Cloud

If you shared a Zoom cloud recording, the playback window will include a Zoom logo in the upper left corner and the URL will begin with “https://udel.zoom.us/rec/share” Since Zoom cloud recordings a temporary and are available for only 60 days, it’s advised to not share content from the Zoom cloud. All Zoom cloud recordings are automatically added to your My Media in Canvas and UD Capture Space where you can share the video from.
