Volunteer Opportunity with UD’s Epidemiology Program!

UD’s Epidemiology program and Partnership for Healthy Communities, in collaboration with the Delaware Division of Public Health, will be conducting a series of community health assessments to better understand the concerns and needs of Delaware communities during the COVID-19 pandemic and to improve the overall health in Delaware in the future as part of Delaware’s State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP).   Student volunteers are needed to assist with field data collection of the community health assessments in each of Delaware’s 3 counties. Volunteers will be paired with community members and other members of the research team.

If you are interested in volunteering for this project, here are the dates and times of the field data collection:

  • Kent County – Friday, February 25th 9:00 am-5:00 pm and Saturday, February 26th 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • New Castle County – Friday, March 11th 9:00 am-5:00 pm and Saturday, March 12th 9:00 am-5:00 pm
  • Sussex County – Friday, March 25th 9:00 am-5:00 pm and Saturday, March 26th 9:00 am-5:00 pm

Please note:  volunteers may sign up for as few or as many days as their schedules allow.

All field volunteers will also be required to participate in a 2-hour online orientation training called Just In Time prior to assisting with field data collection.  More information on the Just In Time training will be sent out in advance of the field dates.

If you are interested in volunteering to assist with the field data collection, please complete the following sign up form: Team- SHNA/SHIP: CASPER Student Surveyors Sign-up (signupgenius.com)

We hope you will volunteer! This is a wonderful opportunity to gain hands-on public health experience, contribute to performing an essential public health service, and network with public health faculty, researchers, and the Delaware Division of Public Health leadership.  In addition, students needing to earn service, volunteer, or research hours may be eligible to receive hours for assisting with this project.  Please check with your program advisor to find out and indicate your need for hours certification on the sign-up form.
