Our next ASHE meeting will be on Tuesday, October 15th at 5pm in Gore 308.  Remember that dues of $5 for the semester will be collected at this meeting!  We will also be raffling off Starbucks gift cards to all attending members!

Our next ASHE event this year will be a presentation on Tuesday, October 8th given by Dr. Earl “Rusty” Lee!  Dr. Lee is a professor at the University and works with students and DelDOT to collect traffic counts for the improvement of Newark traffic signals.  We are fortunate to have him give us a short, worthwhile presentation on the work he has recently done.

Following the presentation, we will be walking over to Cleveland Ave / Kirkwood Highway intersection in order to see the improvements that have been made.

This is a great opportunity to come see something right on campus that directly impacts you!  It’s also a great way to see one aspect of transportation and traffic engineering in person.  The presentation will begin promptly at 4:30pm in Memorial 124.  Please e-mail Kelly Fearon with any questions or comments you may have.  See you there!

The event will be held on Friday, September 27th at 5pm in White Clay Creek State Park.

The BBQ is great time to meet new friends and professionals in the most laid-back environment we can find.  Please feel free to forward this invitation to any of your friends who might be interested in joining ASHE@UD.  The more the merrier!

DelDOT has completed the removal of the Business Route 2 designation from Main Street, Delaware Avenue, South Main Street, and Elkton Road in order to reduce confusion and sign clutter.  In addition, DelDOT has also truncated Delaware Route 2 at Route 273 to follow the same criteria for drivers.

The removal of Delaware Route 2 and Business Route 2 signs took place during the latter weeks of August 2013, and the current designations can be seen in image above.  Although the project is complete, however, historic Route 2 signs can still be seen on side streets approaching South Main Street, East Main Street and East Delaware Avenue.

ASHE@UD will be having its final general meeting for the spring semester on Monday, May 13th at 5pm in the 302 DuPont conference room.

We will be discussing the summer plans necessary for a smooth start in the Fall.  Specifically, we will be looking for help planning the Fall Barbecue dinner meeting, Activities Night, and other trips/events for the semester.
