Bio: Kelsi Skeens is a senior undergraduate studying chemical engineering at the University of Delaware. She is originally from La Plata, MD, a town about 40 minutes south of Washington, D.C. She has previously worked on educational media for chemical engineering and materials science (Dr. Russell and the Engineering Outreach Program at UD), characterization of novel semiconductors (Dr. Zide), and munitions safety at the Indian Head Naval Base. She plans to graduate in 2014.
Research Interests: Her research interests include structure-property relationships of hydrogels, with a focus on applications related to drug delivery.
Fun Facts: Kelsi loves hard rock music, literary fiction, and Redskins football. She writes poetry, radio dramas, and short stories in her spare time. She has a show on the campus radio station called “The Middle.”
