Kat WileyBio: Kat is originally from Marblehead, MA and previously attended Bucknell University, where she received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 2014. Her undergraduate research focused on the design and evaluation of millifluidic devices for efficient liquid liquid extraction for small molecule purification applications in the pharmaceutical industry. In 2015, Kat was named a fellow of the Systems Biology of Cells in Engineered Environments NSF IGERT Program, for which she traveled to Leipzig, Germany for an internship with the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS) during the fall of 2016.

Research Interests: Kat is studying the role of dynamic cell microenvironments on disease progression by designing a 3D cell culture model that can mimic the biochemical changes that occur due to aging or wounding during cell culture.

Fun Facts: Kat is trained in a variety of dance styles from ballet to tango and salsa. También, Kat puede hablar español!
