Preposterior is dedicated to combining the knowledge of people with the information hidden in data to compel firms to take optimal actions. Too often, uncertainty leads to a never-ending quest for more information and hence, a lack of any action besides information gathering or informational meetings. This blog seeks to break that cycle of inaction by not only investigating how to make decisions under uncertainty, but also when to make those decisions and how to persuade organizations to follow insights gleamed from both human intuition and rigorous data analysis (i.e. visualization and storytelling). Topics covered include probability theory as the logic of science, Bayesian data analysis, data visualization, and the use of R.
Preposterior is a blog managed by Adam J. Fleischhacker (Associate Professor of Operations Management – University of Delaware).
