Clarifying, disseminating, and enhancing policies related to faculty recruitment, retention, and advancement is an important step toward improving climate on campus. To this end, members of the UD ADVANCE leadership team partner with faculty, administrators, the Faculty Senate, and AAUP-UD to revise, update, and communicate relevant policies.
Dual Career: The ADVANCE team worked with the provost’s office and Human Resources to develop a process for new or prospective faculty to request assistance in locating a job for their spouse or partner in the geographic area. Click the link to the left to read more about services for dual-career couples or to learn more about the process of developing these services.
Family-Friendly: Because UD’s family-friendly policies are located in a number of different sources (e.g., HR documents, Faculty Handbook, and Collective Bargaining Agreement), we compiled them into a single brochure for easy access. Click the link to the left for the brochure in PDF form or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request physical copies. Note: the policy on stop-the-clock for CT faculty has been updated. Read about the policy in the Faculty Handbook.
Dependent Care: UD ADVANCE is working with Human Resources and the provost’s office to investigate options for providing dependent-care benefits, which are expected to increase employee productivity and retention and improve perceptions of climate. While we are still in the initial stages of this work, you can click on the link to the left to access a policy brief written by UD ADVANCE that describes options that other institutions have used.
