DECEMBER POST

Star Breathing

We are going to take a moment to do a short breathing exercise to try and destress
ourselves. Get in an upright seated position with your back straight, feet flat on the floor
and roll your shoulders back, making sure you can breathe easily. For the exercise, we
are going to image a star, breathing in, holding, and breathing out for every point.

STAR BREATHING

Starting at any point of the star…
INHALE as you trace the first “breathe in” side of star’s first point
HOLD your breath when you reach the tip of the point
EXHALE and breathe out as you trace your finger down the “breath out” side of the first
point
REPEAT until you reach where you started (for a total of 5 repetitions of “breath in →
hold → breathe out”
This breathing exercise helps us focus on our breathing, making each breath
meaningful.

Have teens? Ever wonder how to parent teens in today’s world?

Botvin LifeSkills Parent Program is developed to give knowledge and skills needed to help prevent children from using drugs. The parent guide contains material and exercises that will help parents teach their children the skills that help them resist the threats of tobacco, drugs, and violence. These tools help parents prepare their child for a successful transition from adolescence to early adulthood. This program is designed for parents/guardians of students in grades 6th-9th grades. This program can be taught as a workshop with a group or individually.

For more information or to sign up for a workshop please contact Lindsay Hughes at lgooden@udel.edu.
