Woman of the year – 2010

Flo Waibel

floWaibelWe are happy at UDWC to announce that Flo Waibel has been chosen as our Woman of the Year for 2009/10. She has been a very active volunteer since moving to Newark in 1974. When her children were in the local schools, she was an active supporter of school activities, PTA and booster groups. Flo was a founding member of the NewArk United Church of Christ and has served a variety of roles there.

After retirement from UD, Flo increased her community involvement, serving on the Friends of the Newark Free Library Board, the Newark Symphony Society Board, the University of Delaware Women's Club, the International Women's Club, the League of Women Voters, Friends of the White Clay Creek and more book groups than she wants to admit. It is a rare election when Flo is not serving as an Inspector at the polls at the Wilson Center. Also, she is known for offering their home for fund-raisers when a venue is needed.

She is married to Richard, a retired DuPont engineer, and has
three grown daughters.

Congratulations, Flo!
