Nancy Neal
UDWC is happy to announce that Nancy Neal has been selected as our Woman of the Year for 2009. In the time she has lived in Newark, she has always been involved in activities benefitting our area. Any organization in which she is a member knows her as active and supportive.
Nancy served as President and Chair of the State Committee on Women of the AAUW (American Association of University Woman.) For 21 years she chaired the Antique Study Group of the Newark chapter.
As an active member for forty-two years of the Friends of the Newark Library, she served as Publicity Chair and President. Nancy is a Chi Omega alum and she helped to create the Rho Lambda chapter at UD, serving as Scholarship and Rush Advisor and Corporation Trustee. At her church, she has served in numerous capacities. She also served three terms on the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists by appointment of the Governor.
Nancy is married to Jim Neal, a duPonter who served many years in the DE Senate. In retirement he is a UD Trustee, so Nancy is a UD woman now! They have three grown children.
