Woman of the year – 2004

Alice Lanier

AliceLanier2We are proud to announce our University of Delaware Women’s Club 2004 Woman of the Year is Alice Lanier. Still young at 91, Alice has gone through her life as a shining example to all of us. She has embodied all that was and continues to be important for those affiliated with the University of Delaware. And she continues to be a role model in the University and surrounding community in many ways.

Alice has been a warm and welcoming fixture for members of the Business and Economics Department since her husband joined the faculty in 1940. Throughout the years, Alice opened her heart and home to countless new faculty, and their spouses as her husband served on the faculty and then as chairperson. She is well known for her warm hospitality and southern charm. Additionally, Alice volunteered in many of her church’s activities. As many people can attest, when someone was in need, Alice always seemed to know just what was needed and came through at just the right time.

Congratulations Alice!
