Each year, the University of Delaware’s TRIO Upward Bound Math/Science program hires instructors to teach for our six-week summer program in the following subjects  –

Geometry & Algebra 2
Pre-Calculus & Calculus
Biology & Chemistry
Anatomy & Physics
English 1 & 2 
English 3 &4
Foreign Language
Computer Technology

 

Purpose, and Scope: Upward Bound Instructors are responsible for providing instruction and tutoring to college-bound high school students in specific topic/content areas.  Instructors are part-time, temporary, employees. Employment generally runs during a six week period between June and July. Program Instructors will work between 3 to 4 hours per day, either mornings or afternoons. Positions will be filled according to the specific topical needs of the program. Employees who, in the sole discretion of the University, have provided satisfactory service may be invited to return to the program the following year; however, there is not a guarantee of future employment. Decisions will be made for each position based on factors considered appropriate by management.

 

Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities:

1. Provide instruction and tutoring to college-bound high school students in specific topic/content areas.

 

Minimum Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

1. Bachelor’s degree.

 

2. Secondary teaching certification in subject to be taught.

 

3. Previous instructional experience at the secondary level.

 

4. Demonstrated ability in teaching high school students in the specific topic/content area(s) in which the employee will be teaching.
