New phishing scams are circulating the University community and attempting to catch members of our school. Below is a screenshot of one:

Note that this email is not from a UD account, but from someone at “morgan.edu.” UD would never use an email account that isn’t from udel.edu.

Also, the link to verify isn’t a UD link either, it’s a link to “mooresguns.com.” Not only will UD never send you an email insisting that you verify your account’s activity, it certainly wouldn’t take you to a non-UD website.

Furthermore, there is no “IT Desk” at UD; we have the “IT Support Center,” or “ITSC” for short.

Below is another scam that arrived in some inboxes this morning:

2ndScam

It has a very similar message, but it is actually from a udel.edu email account. Notice the strange subject (“E-Mail Administrator”) and the salutation UD would never use (“IT Administrator” instead of a specific person or ITSC, which is what we have here at the University).

Also, the “Verify Email” link goes to bjpmumbai.com/index/Apple/Update.php, not any form of udel.edu. This site is not related to UD and it is a scam.

These messages are very similar, from their grammatically incorrect messages (“Students, Staffs [sic] and Alumni of University of Delaware…”) to their non-UD links. Use your common sense when you get any emails from people you don’t know.

If you get these emails or one like them, do not click on the link! Never give away your personal information. UD will never have you verify your account, nor will they attempt to contact you without official udel.edu addresses! If you have any questions about the authenticity of an email, contact the sender or UD IT for an answer. Otherwise, delete the email without clicking on the link!
