Matt KinservikMatthew J. Kinservik is Interim Associate Dean for the Humanities and Professor of English. He specializes in Restoration and 18th-Century British Literature and Theatre History, and he has published extensively on these topics.  His most recent book isSex, Scandal, and Celebrity in Late Eighteenth-Century England(Palgrave Macmillan, 2007) and he is currently at work on a book about the 1795 treason trial of the Reverend William Jackson, an Irishman who was a spy for Jacobin France.  Professor Kinservik’s work is interdisciplinary in nature. It bridges the fields of English, History, and Theatre Studies; it deals with the 18th-century in the broad context of the Atlantic World; and it relies heavily on primary research in archival materials.  The primary evidence he analyzes in his scholarship includes the material culture of the printed word (books, manuscripts, and print ephemera) and of the theatre world (sets, costumes, theatre buildings).
