The research focus of our lab is the neural control of movement and how neurophysiological substrates are affected by normal aging, movement disorders, physical activity and exercise. Much of our work is focused on control mechanisms at the level of the individual motor unit, which consists of a single neuron and the muscle fibers it innervates. With the ability to examine motor unit activity and the corresponding force production or movement of body segments, we strive to generate new knowledge that is meaningful in health, performance and rehabilitation.
