The International GeoGebra Institute offers a free mathematics software package called GeoGebra. It’s used for creating interactive algebra learning modules for elementary through university level students. You can go to their website and download the free software to give it whirl and see if it works for you. You’re also encouraged to become part of their international learning community and share your GeoGebra created leaning modules at their website.
The newest version will save files to HTML which you can then embed into an iBooks Author Widget package. You can see how to do that in the YouTube link below.
This could be a very useful tool for math educators and for those wishing to include math widgets in their iBooks. At this point in time, it seems the drawback to this widget is the need for an internet connection to view. It seems that with a little more exploring there may be a work around for that, or one will come soon.
Check out the GeoGebra website to see if this is something that will work for you: http://www.geogebra.org/cms/en
Here’s a link to a very nice YouTube video tutorial called, Embedding GeoGebra Interactive Widgets into your iBook.
But, it also explains how to set up your own widget in general.
I have added the links included by folf223 in his YouTube video post, just in case that page goes away. The files you’ll need and more information to some questions you might have are also included.
The Default.png and rapporto incrementale files can both be found here: https://www.box.com/s/1476178b3f5918ad1dcf.
Make sure to unzip rapporto incrementale before using.
The original forum discussion where I found the pre-made widget (rapporto incrementale) was the following:http://www.geogebra.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=26204. Thank you again michelepassante!
